'Calla''Waters Flow''Coming to a New Land''Family''Naked City''BIG Yellow Nude'

Latest Works

'Calla'. The plant form that inspired this 1.3m high, limestone, sculpture is echoed in the choice of planting in the garden of this sunny courtyard.

The space that permeates this sculpture invites the viewer to inspect the work more closely and rewards the curious with long, flowing, internal forms.

I am still enjoying the coalescence of fineness and mass.

'Waters Flow' is a Wombeyan Marble sculpture based upon the maquette, 'Current'. We have built a niche into the wall that contains this sculpture above the pool .

'Coming to a New Land' is a wind operated sculpture that uses wharf timber as its anchoring elements.

The architect's design created outdoor 'windows' that I decided to use for their original meaning of 'wind-eyes'.

The three sails turn even in light breezes, spinning the story of arrival in the new land and also of the windmill that occupied this spot in the early days of the colony.

The sculpture, 'Family', is a grouping of five, polished timber pieces, expressing the care and unity that can exist between very different people.

Standing up to 1.4 metres high, this sculpture is set upon a limestone stairtread at the base of a staircase.

'Naked City', is a waterfeature in a courtyard pond. It has viewing points from several rooms and its variety of weights, lines and spaces are doubled by the huge mirror at the rear of the work.

Water falls from several points of the sculpture, bringing light, movement and sound to the entire home.

New! - Paintings by Roger
Designed to further explore the shapes I like in my sculpture, 'BIG Yellow Nude" is a work that uses bold colour and large areas to describe mass.

Acrylic on canvas, size 1215mm wide x 915mm high, unframed.

Current Projects

A landscape work, 'Fluid Transport' is made of salvaged materials.

A three metre beam of Walsh Bay Wharf timber will be suspended on a steel column.

I am carving the timber beam into a shape that evokes the thought of a curved form moving through air or water. It also echoes the curve of the hillside that will be its home.
