Materials Bronze

Latest News
I have a somewhat unusual commission to share with you in this news update.

I was commissioned to design and produce several hundred sets of bronze crypt furniture. Each set consists of four elements, a 'Vigil Lamp', a 'Vase', a 'Cross', and a 'Photoframe'.

Each set is to be fitted to one crypt space in the complex.

As you can see in the images to the left, the siting of the pieces is on polished granite slabs set in a beautifully proportioned, simple architecture.

I think that the curviness of the bronze forms plays well as counterpoint to the linear architectural context whilst the sculptures' edges crisply fit them into it.

The Vigil Lamp holds a custom cast, pressed-glass flame that is led illumined during visiting hours. This glass piece was formed by pouring molten glass into a steel mold then pressing a steel former into the rear face to create the space for the led module.

The Vigil Lamp also holds the Vase, which is a separate item that can be removed to refresh the flowers and water when required.

The Photoframe is designed to carry a proprietary ceramic disc that can be colour printed with a portrait image.

Fixing is by way of 304 stainless steel machine screws through the granite slabs.

The furniture is currently being installed.

Thanks for dropping in,

Roger
