The height of this sculpture gives us the same perspective that small children get when they see their parents.

The primitive feel of this piece is akin to a totem. The name therefore introduces a tension wherein we know the concept of 'mother', but we sense something else there as well.

I think that the strength of the character in this sculpture stems, in a great part, from the assemblage of raw, found materials with minimal modification. Because they are found materials that are no longer available, this is a one-off sculpture.
